OKAY SO... this had to happen eventually, right? I'm in the mood for anime discussion
What anime's (animes? animes'? ANIME? IDK) are you guys watching? (if any) What are your favorites? Any particular reason?
I figure if we get more members then I'll give Anime and Manga a category of it's own but, best to start small for now, right? But if we have any anime's in common that we really like then we can start a separate discussion thread, but for now here is okay.
So yeah, let's talk anime!

I'm not watching anything in particular right now, but lately on saturday nights I've been sitting down and watching either Evangelin, Soul Eater, or one of the other series I have on DVD. I'm welcome to suggestions.

I've not actually watched any new anime for a while, (that whole not having money thing.) The most recent I've watched was Cowboy Bebop.
I used Death Note to get my BF back into anime again last year or so, and since then we've got through Soul Eater, Darker Than Black, DtB:Gemini of the Meteor and part of Claymore. Movie-wise we've watched Summer Wars, Paprika, and the truly glorious Akira blu-ray. Oh and a bunch of Ghibli stuff. Grave of the Fireflies is the saddest film.
Ajah - I saw on Twitter you've been watching DRR! How are you finding it?
One day I will make a post that I don't immediately edit. This is not that day.

I loved Summer wars, maybe its cause it appealed to my gamer self, or maybe just cause it was awesome.
The last anime movie I watched was called Redline, which is about futuristic racing. It was cool.

I'm welcome to suggestions. I admit, for how long it's been around I have never watched Evangelion all the way through. Same with Soul Eater. I WAS reading the manga in Yen Plus but then they made it digital and I got lazy ;v; I've been meaning to get back to it though~ I'm currently re-watching Clannad and Delaying myself to watch Kannon they are both great animes that are sad I would say more but I don't feel well right now >.< I've heard of Clannad! But not Kannon O: Also sad animes are usually great ;v; I mean I bawled through Gurren Lagann and No.6 so I appreciate anything that generates tears or other feels! I've not actually watched any new anime for a while, (that whole not having money thing.) The most recent I've watched was Cowboy Bebop. Ajah - I saw on Twitter you've been watching DRR! How are you finding it? One day I will make a post that I don't immediately edit. This is not that day.Oh wow that was quite a list! Same here, I only just fixed my internet problem so I have got back to watching anime recently and tried some new ones I hadn't seen before. Cowboy Bebop: omg YES Death Note: Also behind on because I watched it up until the point where Mello and Near come in and I got a little bored xD; oops Darker Than Black: I KEEP trying and trying to get into it but I can't manage to get through the first few episodes. A friend of mine says it's really good, I want to see the second series really bad because I saw a preview I totally gushed over but I know I can't watch it until I watch the rest. Does it get better? :c Claymore: also on my WANT TO WATCH list~ Summer Wars and Paprika: SAME! Is Summer Wars good too? I've heard mixed reviews D: /sorry I'm asking all these questions omg As for Durarara... YES WOW. I admit I had a hard time getting into it at first but I am finding it to be a good mix of everything I love. I just finished watching episode 10 and WOWWWWW. Even if I'm like "What is going on" the whole time, the end of an episode always leaves me wanting more. So therefore I would say I am enjoying it thoroughly! I feel like a total nerd saying I wish the Dollars existed in real life haha~ and lastly @punkus: I haven't heard of Redline! The only racing anime I knew of was Initial D, which a friend of mine is really into but that one I haven't heard of I realized I haven't said what I'm watching but I wanted to reply to everyone first so, maybe the next time I post a reply :3c

I feel like a total nerd saying I wish the Dollars existed in real life haha~ Death Note will pick up again later on. The last three episodes I watch on the edge of my seat every time, even knowing what's going to happen. Even having seen it a few times now. Darker than Black is kinda... the first episodes are kinda expodumpy, 'cause they need to introduce the concepts of Contractors, Dolls, Moratoriums and all the organisations connected to, hunting, and controlling them. (As well as the motivations of our leads, particularly Hei.) You get hints of plot in episodes 5 and 6 and then a weird filler and then things kick off properly. Also Hei-posing-as-Li is just about the most adorable thing in anime. The OVA/Episode 26 is entirely crack, of the "Ohai fandom, we know what you do." kind. Kiko is tumblr in human form. Claymore: Feels a little bit "Monster of the week" so far, although there are some intriguing plot threads starting to emerge. Probably gonna have to start from the beginning on that one. Summer Wars: Have you seen the first Digimon movie? It's kind of a bit like that. (In fact, AFAIK there is a connection with one of the staff members, but I can't find the info just now.) There are definitely Loads and Loads of Characters (don't even try to remember all of Natsuki's family.) and it's, kinda cliched in some ways BUT it is absolutely worth watching. It's so much fun. It's kind of a mix of comedy, drama, and some genuinely touching emotional bits. There is one particular bit where you will definitely want to shout "Aww hell yea!" at the TV. I'm glad you're enjoying DRR! though. I know what you mean about wanting more; I really really reallyreally hope that second season happens, because there are several light novels and the anime get's through the first... two? So there were more than a few plot threads hanging by the end (not that it wasn't satisfying mind). I pretty much watched the entire thing in marathon because I just HAD to know what was gonna happen next, especially in some of the later episodes. There's one thing about it that... kinda confused me a little. I won't go into details just now because spoilers! but... prod me after you get to about the halfway point. (Like episode 12 or so.) AFAIK the plural of anime is... anime. The reasoning I usually see is that all Japanese words used in English work like that since Japan doesn't really have plurals in the same way. There's definitely no apostrophe though. /grammar-nazi

About the Anime thing: Ah! Thank you~ I get so frazzled sometimes over things like that. Plural of Anime is Anime. Got it Also Hei as Li: yesss~ I agree it is totally adorable. he seems so derpy and then he breaks out his badassery. But I'll stick with it! I'll probably hop back to it when I finish DRRR! As for Summer Wars: YES. I LOVED DIGIMON. I loved the first movie ;v; So, I shall give it a shot as well. Concerning DRRR! Episode 12... I am going to prod you on twitter so that we won't post spoilers here

Also Hei as Li: yesss~ I agree it is totally adorable. he seems so derpy and then he breaks out his badassery. Ahahaha yes. One of the episodes... He beats up a Yakuza by dodging and letting him hurt himself. The whole time asking him to "Please stop sir, you're going to hurt somebody! ^^;;;"

I will continue to watch Darker Than Black. My favorite part so far (from what I've watched OTL oops) was one he runs off with that uh... girl... (trying to avoid spoilers) and he is in the restaurant just stuffing his face. It had that adorable Goku "what? I'm hungry" vibe xD

Okay, Shows that I have finished are... Higurashi no naku koro ni (higurashi when they cry): It is really gory about a high school student moving with his family to a rural area. This area has some odd history blaming a demon for deaths and Keiichi has to deal with this, there are arcs evolved with this anime but the main cause behind the story is a MAJOR spoiler.
Umineko no naku koro ni (When the seagulls cry): Is about a family that goes to an island where a witch is said to be they have to go here since the head of the family lives there, they find him murdered and a mystery ensues around this it is also very gory, this story is also VERY confusing until you watch it till the end ;3

It seemed really good though! So basically you like the horror genre, myst? :3c

yus horror (only anime and manga) and sad >w> Heh! As long as you don't come out of the TV saying "SEVEN DAYS" then it's all good xD I have to admit though I don't watch much horror anime (is that bad? probably... lol) but someone said High School of the Dead was fun? idk~ I will take any recommendations xD Cause so far I have seen more Horror movies than anime. hehehe, your scary Myst. XP I started watching bubble gum crisis. Not sure what I think of it yet, but I saw robots punching crazy robots, so I said, "OHHHHHHHH ROBOTS, I'M GONNA WATCH THAT." ROBOTS! Robots are always awesome! I haven't seen that one yet either, let me know what you think of it when you have seen more! I'm partial to mecha animes myself, like Gundam Wing is an old favorite, and Gurren Lagann of course, and my brother has been trying to get me to watch Code Geass or whatever
