scribblingninja: Looks like a new challenger enters the ring! woo Nice to meet you~ Ajahli was right about what she said about the wrist not being small(looking) enough to show a difference between the hand and forarm and the forarm being short and making the other part of the arm look too long. Another noteable thing would be to maybe broaden the shoulders a bit more to balance out some weight between the top and bottom half. It looks really okay and normal in that area but then the bottom half is like "PA-WOW, Badonkadonk all up in your grill" and makes the top half look feeble and weakly in comparison. Which makes her not very credible in her ability to wield whatever arm-weapon she is about to use. And the final thing, balance! Bichez love balance. When drawing a character in a pose that I can physically do(unless it is a real still-life), I WILL do the pose in order to better understand the mechanics of the pose, the weight-distribution, and figure out how i'll mentally map the parts of the body in relation to eachother and the "camera". That is just how I do it because it personally helps me figure it out. It might not work for you, but it is always an option. I tried the pose she is doing and well... It is kind-of hard to balance like that. I mean, if she is a ninja, then I'm sure she can hold it longer, but the way she is holding herself up forces all of her weight-bearing capacity on to her right foot. That kind of thing is all well and dandy, but the rest of her body is in front of and leaning away from that foot and it is not really holding the weight that it was set up to initially hold. In order to save her from falling forward, she would have to move her free left foot or arm to address her body's weight or readjust her pose or position. The easier thing to do would just be change her left leg's position to not be at such a sharp profile and to use some foreshortening instead. :3 The picture does look pretty darn cool otherwise though!~ You're pretty darn good And sorry for the TLDR post. I wasn't expecting to get that far into this :'X Yea shoulders are... not my forte. If I get them the right size they look miles too big. (again, thanks Digimon~) The problems with the legs basically stem from... I suck at foreshortening. Immensely. I was aiming for a kind of... frozen mid-step because "Oh shit you guys! There's a thing!" Re-draw attempt the first! Clicky~

Is the left arm supposed to be going away from the person looking at her? That arm is the only thing that seems off to me.

She's kinda making a "Stop!" gesture. Or at least she's supposed to be.

Oh so it's a, "hey guys I sense the enemy right now, but I'm just gonna kill them cause I'm that bad," moment. Hmm, perhaps the arm needs to be longer, or more bent. IDK, like I said I don't think I can help you to much, or at all.
I've been drawing today trying to shade and draw the same image from different angles. The results are varied, I'll post them in my scrapbook on DA later.

@myst: Post when you can, no pressure xD
@cazzie: The redraw looks super! I can't wait to see it in color. Also can I just say I am super envious of how you drew that right leg? (the bent knee pose) Hngggh... I suck at dynamic poses ;A;

@myst, you shouldn't feel bad. All I can do is ask for help =P
@ajah, even though your dynamic poses seem off somehow (not bad, just off. Maybe swooshy backgrounds. Don't listen to me.) they do get your point across. Am I clear about what I mean?
@cazzie, I apologize for constantly calling you Ninja.

I suck at dynamic poses ;A; Gwahah! Normally I suck at them lots, it's just that very rarely I'll get one that sort of goes right. Inevitably though, I'll bugger something up and then find myself unable to fix it. Apparently though, with the right music and a supply of chocolate, I have near infinite patience with re-drawing and re-drawing. @cazzie, I apologize for constantly calling you Ninja. Call me whatever makes the most sense to you, as long as I know you're talking to me it's all good~

Am I clear about what I mean? yeah I know what you mean :3 and it's true, I get so focused on trying to make things look right that they just end up looking wrong, so i end up drawing really simple weird poses because I'm kind of awkward about it. A favorite artist of mine posted something on tumblr about that (not to me, personally, but about artists who have that issue) and I'm trying to take her advice. I've kind of backtracked to how I was when I was learning, trying to figure out how favorite artists are able to do fun stylized stuff without it looking too...stylized? I guess. BUT YEAH BASICALLY~ I know what you mean and I agree xD

^_^ hehehe
I've been drawing the same picture (or as much the same as I can do) from different angles all week, and have found a way to draw heads that seems to make them look a bit better. (I don't like to judge my own skill, cause that just ends up in me telling myself that I suck, but not as much as I used to.)
. . . On a sort of related note, I was going to scan a drawing I've been doing all week and color it on my computer, but I'm finally getting the thing looked at (it's video card doesn't work right; its a long uninteresting story) which means I may or may not have it.

Hey do any of you have any tips for using gimp? Idk if it uses the same tool names as photo shop, but from my limited experience it seems to, so general tips would be appreciated. n_n
Anyways thanks in advance, and sorry for the double post.

No worries; I have a family member that's going to give me Photoshop when I visit him this summer, so you'll be able to tell me how to do stuff then. =P
Although I do enjoy fiddling with programs.
