Behold! Character sheets! Please fill these in and then PM them to me. Once we have a roughly balanced collection of characters, I'll ask you to post them in this thread. (At which point you can remove any information you want to keep secret - I suggest marking it with a different colour on your private sheet.)

Please don't post anything other than character sheets in this thread (for now at least), it makes my life a little easier if I have less clutter to deal with.

You can get the colour and font formatting for the character sheet by hitting "quote" and then removing the quote tags. Please do that.

Example charatcer will follow, which will be the character I played when we ran this game on my own forum; She'll probably join you on your quest. Apologies for the delay also; there was a bit of a family crisis that took all of my time on Monday and then I was away on Tuesday.

Write what your character looks like and wears here. This should include weight, height, hair colour and style, eye colour, build, and any other unique markings, tattoos, or scars which your character has on their body and finally all visible equipment that your character is carrying.

Background

Put your character's backstory here, such as what were they doing when the main cannon was happening in their universe and how it affected them (if it did at all). Just remember that your character can't be a complete badass who punched out Cthulu at the end of it all. Your character is a 'potential' hero, so you stand out a little from the crowd, but you've not really done any great deeds yet.

This should end with a vague description of events that end with your charatcer finding themselves... somewhere else. (Exactly where will be revealed when I start the RP, muahahahaha.)

Universe Background

Write a small summary of your universe. This is mainly for my benefit as I know some of you are using characters from universes I'm not familiar with. Wikipedia/Wikia links are acceptable.
I would aim for a fairly high-powered universe. A guy with a gun isn't really going to stand up next to a fire-toting wizard. (There is a certain amount of wiggle-room here obviously.)

Personality
What is your character like? Why? Put down here as much as possible about them. Everything from their hobbies right down to the routine they do in the morning if you're feeling inclined. The more info on their personality the better. You should aim to have more words in your personality than in your background, but I'm not going to enforce that particularly strictly.

You can include stuff like favourite colours and foods if you like.
If your character is a lone-wolf, tell me why. Are they afraid to be close to people, or are they just acting tough. Maybe they failed to protect somebody important.
Or maybe they want to make friends with everybody they meet; why?

Do they have any fears or phobias? Did any particular event cause them?

Character Abilities\Powers

Stats: Distribute 40 points between the following categories. 5 means you are average at that skill. 1 is awful, 10 is pretty awesome. (Nothing should be higher than 10.)

Strength - Physical power. How much you can hurt someone with a punch, or a weapon.
Power - Magical strength. how much damage does your magic/psychic/energy attack do.
Intelligence - How smart are you?
Agility - Movement speed. Affects how fast you run and how well you dodge or counter.
Accuracy - Affects your ability to hit. If you;re a melee character this doesn't need to be that high.
Stamina - How long can you work or fight without needing to rest. The higher this is, the more physical damage you can take
Reserve - Your pool of magic/psychic/etc energy. Mana, if you will. The higher this is, the more magical damage you can take.

These are pretty loose tbh. Mostly they're there so that you're not Good-level awesomeness who are good at everything.

Combat Skills:
Put here what powers your character has, if any, and also how they fight and what they use to fight. Again put as much as possible including powers you want them to gain as the RP goes on. Once I've got all character sheets and know what levels of power I'm dealing with I'll work together with you to adjust them so that every character is balanced right.
This is also the place to go into detail on any weapon or non-weapon items your character has, and any non-combat skills they have.
How does the character fight? Are they fragile speedsters or big slow guys with endless stamina. Do they need one good hit or death by a thousand cuts? Are their abilities based on physical power, magic, or spiritual energy? Something else?
Tell me about their weapon. If it's a magic weapon or piece of technology, how does it work? If it has a name, you should include that.
Any special attacks?
Any combat items? (IE bombs, magic runes.)
Do they have any weaknesses? (The answer to this question is always yes.)

Non-combat skills:
Can they play an instrument?
Cook?
Build a house out of sticks?
Is there anything they really suck at? Does your character know s/he sucks at it? These don't necessarily have to be things that will aid or hinder your survival. They could be as irrelevant as “this character is really good at table-tennis” if you want.

On future abilities:
How do you plan for their abilities to develop? Please do talk to me via chat client or pm. (This section shouldn't appear in the public version of your sheet, by the way.)

And here is an example character, which is roughly the character I used when this game ran on my forum. I don't know how much I'll use her, if I do at all. (She's a little bit angsty, but hey, she's an FFVII OC... )

She should give you a rough idea of how powerful to aim to be.

For purposes of illustration, I'm going to make her secret information public, but I'm going to mark it in red to show you what kind of stuff you can hide. Note: Even if something is public on someone's character sheet, your character doesn't know until they're told or shown in character.

(All of this section should be completely public. There is art under the spoiler tag, which I did mainly to avoid disrupting the flow of text.)

Slightly shorter than average, with a thin, wiry build. Her hair is black, styled in a scruffy lopsided bob-cut with long pigtails underneath, her eyes are blue. She wears a cropped blouse and vest, with shorts, and an armoured chest-guard on one side along with knee pads, wrist guards and an elbow pad on her right arm. Her boots are sturdy but obviously well-used and her clothing in general is heavily modified with padded/armoured sections. She has a tattoo on her right arm and multiple piercings in her ears. She also wears goggles. They're metal-rimmed with tinted black lenses and have a bandanna underneath.

She carries two swords, slung behind her. They have crescent moon designs on the hilts and one is slightly longer and broader than the other. The blades are black in the centre with steel-grey (and very sharp) edges. There are four holes down the middle of each blade, surrounded by grey steel and linked in pairs. Three of the slots contain perfectly round glowing stones, a yellow one in the smaller sword and a blue and green in connecting slots on the bigger sword. Items and such, including a handful of grenades, are stored in pouches and bags and clips around her waist.

Ugh, Old art. But do include a drawing if you can! It helps me out a lot when I'm writing. (Even if you just use stick figures or doll-maker things. Just don't go ganking stuff from deviantART.)

Auryon was born 12 years before Meteor, (1990) to a poor-but-comfortable family in the sector 2 slums. Her family ran one of the many junk/item shops, scavenging the junk and such left behind by the people of the upper plate. She had two older siblings, her brother Jian, and her sister Noa. Life was often tough but generally good. Until Meteorfall. Her parents were killed in the destruction of Midgar and the subsequent emergence of the Lifestream.

Finding themselves on the streets of Edge, the three began trying to survive on their own. Being only 12, Auryon found herself relying on her older siblings, who weren't exactly equipped for the sudden responsibilities of everyday life. Jian took odd-jobs around Edge to scrape a living for himself and his sisters, but things took turn for the worse when Noa developed Geostigma, eventually dying in 0003.

Eventually, Jian found steady employment as an apprentice blacksmith, and, over the next few years, became a skilled maker of weaponry. Auryon began learning to fend for herself, and in 0006 (age 16), she began life as a sort of treasure hunter/monster hunter/bodyguard/drifter. Usually making just enough on the road to rent a room in the next town, then making just enough in town to fund the next journey.

Before she left, Jian gifted her with a pair of swords, made to the best of his ability and to fit Auryon's style and skills. Auryon named them in honour of her siblings (Broer - brother, and Zuster - sister). She visits him occasionally in her travels, and they have a good relationship. Jian is probably the only person who has an inkling how messed up Auryon actually is.

It is now 0011, and Auryon has wandered her way to Mideel. Arriving in town, she is soon involved in a monster hunt. At some point during the hunt there's an odd earthquake, and the Lifestream erupts. Naturally, our intrepid heroine-to-be falls in, only to wake up... somewhere else.

Personality

(All of this should be visible, though can omit why when it relates to secrets in your backstory.)

An adrenaline junkie, she's into extreme sports and seems to look for danger. She likes things that go fast, and things that go bang (fireworks, fire crackers, incendiary devices). She has a confident, almost cocky attitude and generally projects an air of "I'm too cool for you." However, this is merely a front to hide her deep-seated insecurities and complexes.

Due to loses in her early life, she is afraid of getting close to people in case they die or leave her, hence the attitude. However, she also can't tolerate being alone or in silent places, and will fill silence with chatter, whistling, humming. She learned to play a penny whistle, just to fill the silence of a solitary camp site.

She can talk without ever... saying much. Especially about herself. She doesn't like to tell people about herself; however, she realises the value of knowing about other people (in a strategic sense). In order to keep distance between herself and others, she reduces them to a list of statistics.

She grew up in the slums of Sector 2 and, it being a dangerous place, especially after Meteorfall, she learned to cope with danger by enjoying the adrenaline rush. She also found that losing herself in the thrill of a chase or a fight or a stunt means that she isn't thinking about... "everything else." Basically, she's constantly moving and running and only stops when there's no other option, at which point she'll make camp, and then play her penny whistle to drown out the silence.

She longs for friendship, but, when she finds herself getting too close or caring too much, she will try to distance herself. This will usually take the form of wandering off for a while or by being aggressive, argumentative and generally snarky. Afterwards, she will normally become angry with herself for pushing people away.

Hobbies: Parkour, extreme sports, as well as training.
Favourite Colour: Blue
Favourite weather: Warm, breezy days when she's travelling. Thunderstorms are fun when she's not. She loves snow but doesn't get to see it much.
Favourite food: Spicy food, especially things with rice.
Least favourite food: Watery soup, ewww.
Life goals: Survival. Comfortable survival would be a nice bonus.
Motivation: Protecting the people she cares about. (Even though she totally doesn't care about any of you. Honest!) (Clearly, this doesn't need to be a motivation your character is aware they have.)
Fear: Losing the people she cares about, especially Jian. Illness makes her uneasy, but it's not really a phobia.

Character Abilities\Powers

Stats: Out of 40 (As you can see, Aury is the "squishy speedster" type of character. Because she fights with parries and counter-attacks, her speed and strength are good, with average accuracy. She has some magic, but not much, so her magic-related stats aren't great.)

Auryon is a swift, agile fighter, relying on dodging/parrying and countering rather than blocking. She fights with two swords, called "The Siblings." The larger of the two is Broer; Zuster is slightly smaller and more slender. Each blade holds four materia slots, linked in pairs. (You must include at least this much. All of the rest can be secret if you like, but I'm not going to do that.)

Everything from this point down will vary greatly depending on your charatcer so don't feel like you have to copy my formatting exactly. Sections should generally be "Combat Skills", with subsections for spells, special attacks, "Non-combat skills" and "Items". Try to use the correct terminology for your chosen universe.

Materia: (In this case, the other players would see the shiny rocks in the swords, but not know what they were.)

Limit Breaks: Limit breaks require more intense battling to activate as they increase in power. I'll give an indication of exactly how much work they'll take. (I've left this visible because it gives some kind of clue as to my charatcer, you can hide it if you like.)

Blast - Creates a small explosion by throwing a rock. The blast centres on the rock and generally travels about five feet. [Active after any injury]

Crescent - Blade-beam-y kinda thing, only it's airborne. Crescent shaped energy wave thrown from Broer. Spiffy. [Active after any injury]

Items: (Re-stocked whenever possible) (For this section, I've kept most of the combat items visible (since they'd be hanging on Aury's belt, most likely.) but hidden the things inside her pockets or that I can use to reveal character later.)

4 x Grenade - Minor damage, one enemy. (Apparently this isn't fire damage.)
2 x Molotov - Fire damage, one enemy.
2 x Remedy - Cures all Abnormal statuses.
Penny Whistle - Small tin whistle with a wooden mouthpiece. No combat application, funnily enough.
92 gil - In assorted change.


Non-combat skills: (There's no point in keeping most of this secret, so I haven't bothered.)

She can play a penny whistle.
She can forage and cook something that's at least edible, though it probably won't taste good.

Generally, she's pretty agile and nimble, and has skills in a few extreme sports. She can climb both rocks and buildings and knows a little parkour. She loves the idea of snowboarding but has only ever done it once.

Also, she can drive various bikes and cars, at least well enough to make them move and not fall off them or crash into things.


On future abilities: (This whole section should be secret. It can be as vague or precise as you like, ramble away and we'll figure stuff out as we go.)

I eventually want to upgrade to level 2 and eventually level 3 spells/items. But that's a way off.

Future Materia:

[Choco/Mog] (Summon) Wind elemental; can cause [stop] status effect.

Future Limit Breaks:

Swift Strike - High speed charge against an enemy ending in a thrusting attack. The idea here is a faster-than-the-eye/flash-step type move. A successful attack results in a bird-shaped wave of light passing through the enemy. (Specifically, like a swift, which looks like a swallow but isn't. Said wave does nothing, it just looks cool.) [Requires serious injury]

Adrenaline - Upon receiving damage, Auryon can harness an adrenaline rush to repay the damage two-fold. [Requires serious injury]

Desperation - When Auryon is nearing total defeat, (which usually means lying on the ground having been severely pounded), she enters (involuntarily) a berserk-like state and, having snapped completely, will attack any threat relentlessly. Usually, this will mean sacrificing defense entirely. [Auryon must be more or less defeated to use this Limit.]

I also want to work in some stuff about protecting her friends, once she realises that that's what they are, and the best way to make sure they don't die and leave her alone again is to, y'know... protect them. Character development! Yey! (Additional thought, possibly something that gives her friends a strength boost. I dunno. We won't really have to deal with it 'til later anyway.)
