Like quite a few people here, I want, more than anything, to be a successful comics-writer (or at least reasonably un-crappy ). One of the things I really need to do is practice. And the best way to practice comics is to draw them, right? So I was thinking, it'd be kinda cool if we could amass a sort of... challenge list. Basically, we post a "challenge", a small plot or scene in the form of; Character A does [x]. What circumstances cause this to happen and how do Character B and C respond to this? Then, other forum members can use this as a template, replacing Character A, B, and C with characters of their choosing and then working out how they'd react to the situation. Anybody can post, and anybody can pick up the challenges as many times as they like with as many characters as they like. The goal here is to practice drawing narratives and to explore our characters and worlds in ways we might not otherwise think of.Aaaand GO!

And if you'll forgive the double-post, I'll go first.
Character A has lost/had stolen something of great sentimental value. What is this object and why is it so important? Do other characters help them find it? If so, who?
I leave it up to you whether it turns up or not, just make sure the character reacts to whatever outcome you decide. If it's stolen, what is the character's reaction to the thief?
Edited because American spellings yo~
Also, you don't have to post them in blue (or any colour at all). I'm just doing that so the important bit stands out.

Oooh I will defiantly take part in this, it'll let me figure out more things about Xereec.
Does it need to be drawn, typed out, or either?

Depends what you want to practice. If you want to practice drawing comics then, you're going to have to draw a comic (even if it's a sketchy one). Obviously, there's no point in drawing a comic to practice writing though.
Ideally, these challenges will be useful little exercises whatever your story-telling medium is, just adapt them to suit your needs. ^_^

Hmmm . . . Then I think what I'll do is make a picture from the scene and have the story to go along with it, like what I've been doing with Seth's story on DA.

Man I can't decide if I want to write or draw. HMM HMM. I'll probably work on it tomorrow since I need new things to challenge me.
Sorry didn't want to post without anything to show for it here, but just acknowledging that I read it and saw it xD and I plan to participate!

Ok, so I changed my mind, I'm not gonna draw a pic to go with my reply, cause I want to reply NOW.
Forward: This takes place the day after Xereec has found out that she has been "dead" for a couple billion of years. I'm also gonna try a first person train of thought style of writing. HERE WE GO!
Where am I even going? Where can I go, it's not like home even exists any more. Where did I live . . . I still can't remember. How much do I remember? . . . I can only remember waking in that la*BLAM* That guy shoved me over! Did he take something . . . THE LOCKET! Gotta run after him. He turned that corner . . . he's fast! . . . did I lose him . . . no . . . I can smell him? 0o . . . Is there anything I can use - YES! With his board, that guys lighter, and the phone that old guy gave me I should be able to - YES! These jets might not holdout very long, OH "I'm sorry but I need your stuff, I'LL BRING IT BACK IN A MINUTE!" they are so bewildered . . . oh yea cat girl . . . ANYWAYS, back to getting him . . . down this road, right, left, in this alley! GOT YOU! "GIVE ME MY LOCKET" what's his face look like . . . he's cute . . . NOT THE TIME! "YOU HEARD ME, MY LOCKET!" "h-h-here, take it!" what's in this locket anyways . . . I guess I should open it . . . "are you going to hurt me?" "I don't know, be quiet" "can you get off me" "shush" . . . I've got it open now . . . who are these people . . . is this what I was like? . . . I don't know . . . "hellooooo?" . . . this guy seems poor, guess in thousands of years they haven't fixed poverty . . . "are you gonna get off me soon?" . . . he stole this from me for money . . . well I guess I don't need it . . . "hey, you want this?" "I WANT you to get off of me." "weeeeeell I'll make a deal with you." "WHAT!?!?!" "yea, I'll give this to you if you let me stay with you." "WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!" "well just think about it" . . . he's staring at me, I hope he says something soon, I'm getting embarrassed . . . "you're not gonna get off me until I say yes, are you?" "nope" . . . ". . . fine"
That's where that ends . . . This is the first story that I've sat down and written, plus I'm sleepy, so this might not be the most coherent story ever.

Hey are you ever gonna post any more challenges? I will attempt any that you post.

I sorta planned to attempt my own challenge myself before I posted more. I sorta forgot when I posted it that part of my actual plot hinges around the stealing of an heirloom, so I have to write that sooner or later anyway.
If anybody else wants to post a challenge though, they can. That was always sorta the idea of the thread.
