Our hamster, who's been missing since Friday night, reappeared about 30 minutes ago, in my parents' bedroom.
Which is upstairs.
They are not small stairs...

Well I have an uncle that LOVES british shows. (well mainly Dr. Who, but there are others) I've noticed in alot of these shows that there are more inter-racial couples.
So my question: are inter-racial couples more acceptable across the pond?

That's a very interesting question. I don't know if they're more accepted per-Se, (I know of one person who might take issue with them, but she's racist anyway.) but there are things that might explain it if it is the case. The BBC being funded by licence fees means it has to be impartial, which means its shows are generally more likely to have characters who are non-white or have a disability. From what I've seen, our politics in general are more liberal, (Our Conservatives are closer to your Democrats, though they're certainly not as popular atm). If any politician said the things Mitt Romney and his ilk do, they'd most likely be asked to resign. (Unless they're George Galloway being a rape-apologist, which apparently is fine. ) In TV terms, I could only think of one interracial couple straight off the top of my head. (Rose and Mickey in Doctor Who, and Mickey ends up with Martha anyway.) Once I thought about it more, I could add Sherlock's Sally Donovan and Anderson, but she's "the other woman" and he's an adulterer. Red Dwarf has the on-again-off-again Lister and Kochanski, (mostly off though) In most of the ones I can think of, the non-white person is them self mixed-race. I'll admit, I don't watch soaps apart from Casualty (Which had a really cute relationship forming with a Pakistani lady doctor and a Scottish guy doctor, until they put her on a bus). What shows is your uncle watching? (If Eastenders is even remotely realistic, it should have several at a time, but that show is depressing so I don't watch it.) So, I guess the short answer is; I honestly have no idea. Not being involved in one or really knowing anyone who is, it's hard to say definitively. They're there and I never hear any complaining about them, but my friends generally fall into the "very very liberal" category... I think they're pretty much accepted in reality, but like most non straight-white-males, they're almost certainly not as common in media as they are in real life.

Well it was Rose and Mickey that made me ask. I don't remember what a lot of his shows are, I sort of halfway tune him out when he rants about them. >.<
