Graphic design. Well "Junior Mac Operator," which is more like photoshop monkey than any actual design work, but it's permanent and it pays enough that I'd be able to start looking at getting a place with my BF.

Well, that interview coulda gone better. Not helped by me being really freaking late because google maps lied to me and then NOBODY in Manchester had even heard of the agency (and the ones who did sent me to their old address). It looks like I'm signed on with the agency at least, so that's a start.

That is good, and yea google maps lies a lot. For instance it doesn't even show my friends address.

HAHAHA, no rant needed for that, but it was just something Mystmyst did, and I want to leave her stuff to talk about when she gets back.
But a rant topic would be good.

Asian Kung-fu Generation~ They did some of my favourite openings for Naruto, Bleach and FMA, (I think you'll know of "Rewrite"?) and the rest of their stuff is equally freakimg awesome. Stuck another job application in yesterday, for Waterstones this time. Retail is less then ideal but a job is a job and I don't actually get much les pay than the job I had actually USING my degree so... And the freelance stuff is just about done. Yeeeey.

for Cazzie:
OHH RIGHT! Those guys. (Yes, Rewrite. YES) I squealed when I saw Perfume on iTunes. It was like the internet was saying "here. be happy"
Ehh yeah. retail. meh. But it's all in how you look at it. Sometimes those jobs are easier if you like what you are selling.
Also yay for freelance! Do you get a lot of freelance jobs? (just curious :3)
For Myst:
YAY! Well, sorry about your tummy but glad the apartment and the kitty worked out! Glad things are going your way! ^^
As for my day: was pretty boring actually. Had to fill up home accents tables to look nice, then highlighted my overstock and hung up Christmas ornaments. I move into my new department next week. Now just home waiting for the boyfriend to sign on.
I'm actually kind of grateful it's a slow day xD I only had 3 hours of sleep lol

But it's all in how you look at it. Sometimes those jobs are easier if you like what you are selling. Also yay for freelance! Do you get a lot of freelance jobs? (just curious :3) Yea, it's a bookshop, so even when there's the "last-minute-christmas-rush-panic" there's a sort of serenity to the place. And it's in a big old building so it has heaps of character (and staircases, I get the feeling I'm about to get into shape pretty suddenly) Uhm, for an unestablished designer three years out of uni? I get a reasonable amount I guess. Mostly it's friends or friends of friends/family that want stuff, but I have a guy in a nearby town who comes to my BF for work pretty frequently. He was really complimentary in his last e-mail though and it looks like he'll become a regular contact for me too. And he has connections to school/businesses/local politicians so I get the feeling it'll be more frequent. (And if I get this job, I won't have all the crap with the jobcentre that currently makes freelancing not really worth doing from a monetary perspective). I've had to do a lot of voluntary and free stuff to get to this point though. Some people say not to do that at all but that's actually pretty unrealistic in a field that runs on connections. It's more about finding the balance between getting your name out there and making sure you don't work for free for someone who can afford to pay you.

It can be I guess. Mostly it needs a lot of hard work (as does any creative job). But if you enjoy design though, it's totally worth doing.
