Well, if the character wearing it is actually a medic, there's not so much of a problem, (depending on how much and when they fight also. Medics can shoot in self defence AFAIK.) The main problem would be with using the red cross on something you plan on selling, I think.
Depending how long the school has been around, they might use something older; My post up there has a couple of Wiki links on health and healing deities, which won't be definitive, Wiki being as it is, but they should point you in the right direction.
